As the cold months draw in and the air turns sharp, our bodies can become susceptible to viruses.

Inspired by ancient Ayurvedic practice of nasya, nasal oiling. In Ayurveda, nasya is one of the five cleansing and nourishing therapies known as Panchakarma. It involves applying herbal oil drops into the nostrils to support the nose, sinuses, mind, and prana (life force).

Traditionally, nasya is said to: Lubricate the nasal passages and protect them from dryness and irritants. Support clear breathing and healthy sinuses. Help prevent the entry of pathogens and reduce the likelihood of coughs, colds, and sinus congestion (by keeping the nasal tissues resilient and moist). Support mental clarity and grounding. Classical reference: “By applying nasya daily, the nose, head, hair, and face become strong, and the person remains free from disease.” — Charaka Samhita, Sutrasthana 5.5

 

Modern research supports that nasal oiling can help maintain moisture and mucosal integrity, which acts as a physical barrier against dust, pollen, and microbes, helping the body’s natural defences.

 

As I always strive to work within my own cultures practices, whilest at the same time honouring the ancient practices of other cultures and gently weaving them into my own interpretation, my Winter Immune Protection Nasal Oil is a soothing, herbal-infused oil crafted to help nourish and protect the delicate nasal passages, your first line of defence through the Winter season.

 

Inspired by traditional herbal wisdom and made with herbs familiar to our British hedgerows and kitchens, this oil offers a nurturing ritual to support seasonal wellness and immunity.

 

Each bottle is made with care, infusing organic sesame oil with a blend of lavender, rosemary, sage, oregano, thyme, cinnamon, clove, and chamomile, many from my own garden - herbs long cherished for their anti-viral, antibacterial, comforting, cleansing, and gently protective properties.

 

Unlike essential oils, this is a slow-infused herbal oil - rich, grounding, and kind to sensitive tissues.It’s not volatile or overpowering, just a soft, warming layer of support you can apply at the first signs of seasonal sniffles or as part of your daily winter ritual.

 

How to use;

place one drop of oil on a clean finger and gently massage just inside the rim of each nostril, taking a deep, conscious breath in.

You can also apply a small amount to the chest, under the nose, or around the temples before heading outdoors in cold weather.
